Looking for some unique, colorful plants this year? Come visit the ISU Horticulture Club’s Spring Sale!
The ISU Horticulture Club is always excited when springtime rolls around, so every year we hold a plant sale in late April or early May to raise funds for the club, and remind everyone that the new growing season is finally here! This fundraiser has been a Horticulture Club tradition for many years, and each year we try to offer new, cutting-edge varieties of your favorite spring annuals and perennials. Whether you are looking for specific varieties, or just something a little different, we guarantee you’ll find something that catches your eye!
Spring annuals and perennials have been an important part of American culture for generations, and bedding plant sales bring in billions of dollars nationwide each year. Growing ornamental plants on a large scale is no easy task, and it takes an immense amount of time, knowledge, and thousands of dedicated growers and horticulturists to produce all the wonderful plants we see each spring. Our club appreciates the hard work and care that goes into growing the ornamental plants we all know and love, so in the spirit of springtime, we grow our own crop of colorful, unique bedding plants.
Our Spring Sale is a great opportunity for members to take on leadership roles within the club, and learn how to grow some of the most economically important ornamental plants on the market. Senior and junior chairs organize the sale, from choosing specific species and varieties of plants, to scheduling and maintaining the crops, all the way down to choosing when and where to hold the sale. Everyone in the club is encouraged to participate in the process, and there are a plethora of opportunities for students to get involved, have fun, and learn something new.
